CRA personnel are recognized experts in injury analysis, coding, and causation. Our staff have more than 25 years of experience using the AIS coding schema, and include a Certified Abbreviated Injury Scaling Specialist (CAISS) with prior experience as a Level 1 Trauma Coder and certification in Trauma Registry (CSTR). We have extensive experience in biomechanics, occupant kinematics, the identification of injury sources, mechanism of injury, and the injury causation summary. Our expertise is broadly based on injury(ies) resulting from a variety of crashes and traumatic scenarios.

Injury data can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis or gathered for database and analysis purposes. The most accurate source for this data are the extraction and coding of injuries from hospital medical records and autopsy reports.  Accurate injury causation determination relies on a thorough understanding of occupant kinematic response, restraint system usage and interaction, and the sources and mechanisms of injury. Occupant injury severity and the injury source components are key data sets to most crash investigation programs.  Vehicle design and structure, occupant restraint systems, and crash severity are all gauged against type, severity, source, and mechanism of injury.
